About Us
The Byron Visitor Centre Inc. is an incorporated association, run by a voluntary management committee, one paid staff member – Manager, Deborah McBride and a team of volunteers in the Centre. It occupies the old Stationmaster’s Cottage in the centre of Byron Bay and receives no institutional funding. The Byron Visitor Centre celebrates its 23rd birthday in December 2024, a significant achievement for a self-funded organisation.
The centre supplies visitors with maps of Byron Bay and the surrounding villages and regions including National Parks, waterfalls and coastal walks. We offer luggage storage during opening hours for $20 per person with longer term luggage storage also available upon enquiry. For a tailored perspective on what you can do during your visit and a general what’s on and where to eat around town please call in to our beautiful little cottage in the heart of town at 80 Jonson Street.
The Byron Visitor Centre is a Level 1 accredited Visitor Information Centre with Destination New South Wales and is the only Level One centre in Byron Shire. The Byron Visitor Centre is proud to be associated with the Brunswick Heads Visitor Centre, an accredited Level Two Visitor Information Centre. No other entities, physical or internet-based, purporting to offer visitor or tourist information in Byron Shire, are accredited. Look for the accreditation symbol, the yellow italic on a blue background, when you need professional, impartial and accurate information.
The Byron Visitor Centre is supported by a membership base of businesses and individuals in Byron and surrounding areas. Members listed on this website have indicated that they are properly accredited, insured and/or registered to run their businesses.
