
Explore Byron Bay – Aboriginal Tours

We invite you to join us on a special Aboriginal tour within Cape Byron or at Broken Head. Our tours are guided by Delta Kay, an Arakwal Bundjalung woman who is passionate about sharing local Aboriginal culture. Delta takes guests to significant places and shares local history and traditional stories. There are opportunities to learn some Bundjalung language and about bush food, natural medicine, tools, weapons and artifacts.
Cape Byron Tour
Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 4pm – 5:30pm Saturdays: 2pm – 3:30pm
On this tour, guests are taken on an easy walk while learning about significant places and hearing local history and traditional stories. Highlights include the story of Nguthungalli (Julian Rocks), and information about Walgun (Cape Byron) and the thousand year old midden. There are also opportunities to learn some Bundjalung language and about bush food, natural medicine, tools, weapons and artefacts. At the end of the tour, guests enjoy tasting some delicious bush tucker foods and have a nice cup of bush tea and a biscuit.
Meeting Place
This tour takes place at The Pass (Brooke Drive, Byron Bay NSW 2481). The meeting place is beside the bottom car parking area where there is a large sign that says ‘Palm Valley’. Please be aware that you will need to pay for parking at The Pass and it can be busy, so it is important you allow enough time to find a car park.
Broken Head Tour
Fridays: 4pm – 5:30pm
On this tour, guests are taken on a moderate 1.6 km return walk while learning about significant places and hearing local history and traditional stories. Highlights include the story of The Three Sisters and information about ‘King’ Bobby and the Bray family. Guests learn about the unique biodiversity and often see an abundance of wildlife, including Wajung the dolphin and Miwing the sea eagle.
From coastal rainforest to crashing waves and rocky coves, the views on this walk are truly special. At the end of the tour, we enjoy tasting some delicious bush tucker foods and have a nice cup of bush tea and a biscuit. We highly recommend that guests wear appropriate shoes and have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
Meeting Place
This tour takes place at Broken Head (follow Broken Head Reserve Road to the end). The meeting place is at the start of the ‘Three Sisters Walking Track’ which is next to Broken Head Holiday Park. Please be aware that you will need to pay for parking within Broken Head Nature Reserve and it can be busy, so it is important that you allow enough time to find a car park.
