Family Activities

It’s hard to believe you would ever get tired of soaking up the sun, book in hand, whilst the kids build sandcastles on the shorelines of Byron Bay’s beautiful beaches, but if you do, you’ll be happy to know that family fun thrives all through the shire.

Dolphin Kayaking

Dolphin Kayaking is the ideal activity for viewing Byron Bay from beyond the waves. Kiddies as young as 5yo can enjoy paddling in a group from Main Beach out to Wategos, taking in amazing signings of turtles, birdlife and dolphins!

Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Just 20km south of Byron Bay, in the Hinterland estate of Knockrow, a new chapter has begun. Formerly known as the Macadamia Castle, the Wildlife Sanctuary continues to offer interactive wildlife experiences, cafe and unique retail as well as a new focus on preservation and awareness. The Wildlife Sanctuary is an ideal family day out for those who love animals.

Crystal Castle

For a chilled out family day head to the charming allure of Crystal Castle, where an array of workshops and experiences can be enjoyed. Stand amid millions of tiny amethyst crystals inside the glistening “Enchanted Cave”, or for a truly Byron Bay experience, have your Aura photographed!

Circus Arts – Byron Bay

Circus Arts is Byron Bay’s jewell for all things circus, including its famous 10m high flying trapeze! Open to the public 6 days a week, it offers a huge variety of classes and activities for all ages – from toddlers to adults. Located just 5 minutes drive from the town centre, it also offers an indoor climbing wall and a unique vintage circus inspired indoor Play Space for kids.

The Farm

Bringing progressive sustainability into Byron Bay’s dining scene, “The Farm” is also a great day out for the family. It is here that the whole family can experience the operations of a working farm, pet adorable farm animals and enjoy delicious culinary goodness at the “Three Blue Ducks” restaurant.

Byron Bay Markets

Alive with rainbow coloured cheer and delicious street food from around the world, The Byron Bay Markets are an absolute must for the family activity itinerary. Held on the 1st Sunday of every month, the markets host an abundance of arts & crafts, vintage fashion, face painting, live music and so much more.
