This favourite cinematic festival love affair returns in spring.  The 2024 festival is presented by Palace Cinemas with a not to be missed programme of the best new Italian films and classic gems screening in Byron Bay and Ballina from September 26 – October 16.

The diverse program includes award-winning drama, documentary, laugh-out-loud comedy and historical epics starring an array of iconic talent.  On opening night at Byron Bay Palace Cinema you can watch the Australian premiere of GLORIA!, a film written and directed by dynamic Italian actress and singer Margherita Vicario. GLORIA! depicts the ebullient, music-fuelled story of an overlooked maid at a Venetian refuge whose hidden talent helps inspire an uprising. And don’t miss the special presentation of the highest grossing film of 2023 in Italy, There’s Still Tomorrow. This vibrant and  moving drama stars Paola Cortellesi (Like a Cat on a Highway) in her directorial debut.

The anniversary screenings include one of the most iconic of all films, Francis Ford Coppola’s Academy Award-winning Godfather Part II – continuing the Corleone family saga, exploring Michael Corleone’s consolidation of power and moral struggles, alongside Vito Corleone’s rise from immigrant to crime lord. One screening only on the 5th October.
