KURUN WARUN

is a member of the indigenous Guntijamara people and is a descendant of the Truganini family line. Kurun Warun whose name means ‘Hissing Swan’ lives in the Noosa hinterland in Southeast Queensland. He is very well known for his exceptionally unique art and his uber talent as a didgeridoo musician. He expresses his culture through art and music and has won international acclaim and recognition in both these fields.

 

ETHAN-JAMES KOTIAU

Drawing on cultural knowledge passed down to him from his community Ethan began painting, dedicated to forging a style unique to his country and people. In his work he thoughtfully uses traditional elements in a contemporary way, to provoke nostalgia and optimism. Ethan’s paintings express storytelling with precision and fervour to gracefully frame the landscape of his country.

 

MELISSA LADKIN

Mel is a proud Awabakal woman of the Wonnarua nation with ties to the Githabul Bundjalung people and has been living and working on Bundjalung Country for the past 15 years. From a young age Mel experienced a deep and intuitive connection to the land. She felt the earth speak to her and was moved by the richness and depth of the colours that form the many ochres she incorporates in her artwork.
