Much loved-performers, Tracy McNeil and Dan Parsons will share the Picture House Stage to bring you a night of Indie Americana wrapped-up in folk rock. Also on the bill, is up-and-coming talent Naomi Connell. This is a one-night gig to help raise vital funds for the shire’s own and only community radio station.
TRACY MCNEIL + DAN PARSONS
Acclaimed singer songwriters Tracy McNeil and Dan Parsons (Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife) have been separated from their Melbourne bandmates since Covid-19 closed borders. They will deliver stunning sets of their respective material, drawing from Parsons’ glorious Sunday Morning Cinema and Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife’s ARIA nominated 2020 album You Be the Lightning. These two captivate audiences through the campfire intimacy of folk storytelling, searing guitar solos of the Cocaine 70’s, sweet vocal harmonies and deft musicality with songs written for the here and now. Like witnessing two people slip back into the mother tongue, Parsons and McNeil share a special musical language — two separate artists yet when on stage together, it’s hard to tell where each begins and ends.
“Parsons’ Sunday Morning Cinema is a glorious admixture of songwriting mastery, powerful vocal precision, and palpable reverence for West Coast country’s golden age.” — Gareth Hipwell, Country Update Magazine
“McNeil’s take on cruisy but heartened Americana is so accomplished; five albums in, she’s making the absolute best music of her life” — DOUBLE J
NAOMI CONNELL
Gold Coast, singer songwriter Naomi Connell broke into the music scene by winning the Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking Championships in 2020. Naomi’s performance style is Folk/Americana and her favourite artists are Laura Marling, Gillian Welsh and Joni Mitchell. With a debut EP under her belt, Naomi is looking forward to stepping onto the stage at the Picture House to showcase her talent.
