BARRIO X PENNY’S CHEESE SHOP – The Art of Pairing Italian Cheese and Wine Masterclass

Start with snacks and sparkling wine, then taste your way through 5 Italian cheeses and wines.
Cheeses are served with a presentation by the Queen of Cheese Penny Lawson while local legend Russ Berry from Where the Wine Things Are will discuss the pairing and how to match wine with cheese.
The night will be filled with lots of laughs, information and a few cheeky surprises.
“I am so passionate about all cheese and especially working with quality Italian cheeses. Barrio’s Co-Owner Dan Wyllie is a close friend and whilst we were travelling in Italy we went to the Slow Food Cheese Festival and we fell in love with Italian cheese. I am looking forward to coming to Barrio Eatery & Bar in Byron Bay, and sharing my knowledge and experience of the history and culture of Italian cheese and gastronomy.”
Penny Lawson loves nothing more than opening up a new wheel of cheese and seeing what the season and the age have done to the flavour and texture. Her knowledge of cheese has earned her the title “Cheese Queen” in Sydney, and her toasties are known far and wide as the city’s most decadent and delicious on offer.
Expect an evening curated by the Cheese Queen herself with a selection of hard, soft and everything-in-between Italian cheese. Award-winning Sommelier and wine-educator Russ Berry will be pairing wines to each cheese.
