SUMMARY:A Monet in Murwillumbah: Sharing the National Collection
DESCRIPTION:Between 1890 and 1891\, Monet painted his Haystacks series exploring the nuances of light\, shade\, tone and colour across the seasons and at different times of the day. Meules\, milieu du jour [Haystacks\, midday] 1890 is a glorious work from this series\, filled with dazzling light and luminous colour. \nPurchased in 1979 by the National Gallery of Australia\, Canberra\,  Meules\, milieu du jour [Haystacks\, midday]\, is one of five works shared with the Tweed Regional Gallery as part of the National Gallery of Australia’s Sharing the National Collection initiative. The Sharing the National Collection initiative sees major works of art from the National Gallery of Australia’s collection exhibited across regional and suburban communities. \nThe Monet is available to view at the Tweed Regional Gallery in Murwillumbah for the duration of 2024. \nJoining the Monet from Saturday 2 March 2024 are three works by iconic Australian artist Margaret Olley\, along with a painting by one of Olley’s favourite artists\, Giorgio Morandi. DESCRIPTION:Now in its eleventh year\, the Byron Coastal Charity Walk gets people moving 12\, 24 or 36 kilometres down the Byron Coast. Enjoy picturesque beaches and walking tracks from Byron to Ballina whilst raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. \nAs a social\, non-competitive walk\, participants can walk or run at any pace and choose to enter individually or in teams.
