SUMMARY:Songs of the Land | An Exhibition by Penelope McManus
DESCRIPTION:Penelope McManus has spent the past four years painting her local landscape\, wetlands\, estuaries\, creeks\, rivers and oceans of the Bundjalung Nation\, particularly around Byron Bay (Arakwal Country). \nPenelope first visited and started exploring the waterways\, wetlands and ocean around Byron Bay in 2020. Following the Black Summer bushfires she moved from the Southern Highlands of New South Wales to the Northern Rivers which brought renewed hope and vision for the beauty of the landscape – clear skies\, vivid greens\, blues and pinks. \nSongs of the Land refers to sitting\, looking\, listening and painting this country and hopes to connect audiences with the natural world through paintings that evoke feelings of mystery and wonder. \n  \nOpening Night \n\nFriday 10 November 530pm – 7.30pm \n  \nLone Goat Gallery hours are: Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.

Northern Rivers is presenting its first annual Bangalow Ceramic Fair at the Moller Pavilion\, Bangalow Showgrounds this coming December. \n50 local potters will showcase their work for sale across two days in an event designed for the whole family.  Organisers Trudy Gould and Brooke Jenkins say that the diversity and volume of work within the artist collective means there is something to suit everyone’s taste and a great way to support local artists and meet the maker while Christmas shopping. \nThere will be live wheel throwing demonstrations to show how pots are made on the potter’s wheel as well as workshops running all weekend for both adults and kids where you can decorate your very own piece of pottery. \nThe leafy surrounds of the Pavilion are the perfect spot to take in the live music with coffee\, pastries\, gelato and food vans all on site and a huge lucky door prize has been put together by the artists. \nClay Northern Rivers is a collective of ceramic artists local to the Northern Rivers region. The group comes together to support each other in their practices and hold community events to raise the profile of their members and engage with customers through markets. SUMMARY:A Monet in Murwillumbah: Sharing the National Collection
DESCRIPTION:Between 1890 and 1891\, Monet painted his Haystacks series exploring the nuances of light\, shade\, tone and colour across the seasons and at different times of the day. Meules\, milieu du jour [Haystacks\, midday] 1890 is a glorious work from this series\, filled with dazzling light and luminous colour. \nPurchased in 1979 by the National Gallery of Australia\, Canberra\,  Meules\, milieu du jour [Haystacks\, midday]\, is one of five works shared with the Tweed Regional Gallery as part of the National Gallery of Australia’s Sharing the National Collection initiative. The Sharing the National Collection initiative sees major works of art from the National Gallery of Australia’s collection exhibited across regional and suburban communities. \nThe Monet is available to view at the Tweed Regional Gallery in Murwillumbah for the duration of 2024. \nJoining the Monet from Saturday 2 March 2024 are three works by iconic Australian artist Margaret Olley\, along with a painting by one of Olley’s favourite artists\, Giorgio Morandi.
