SUMMARY:Brookie's Bees and Cheese workshop
DESCRIPTION:Brookie’s\, Bees & Cheese Workshop – a Native bee workshop\, paired with local cheese and cocktails \nJoin us in celebrating some of the hardest working locals here at Cape Byron Distillery\, our Native Australian stingless bees. \nOur hives were originally erected on the property to help increase the pollination of our macadamia orchard and our regenerating rainforest. The bees not only play an integral role in keeping our unique forest happy and healthy but they also produce a delicious honey-like bi-product called sugar bag\, high in medicinal qualities and packed full of flavour. \nJoin us from 2:30pm onwards on Sunday\, November 3rd while our apiarist Steve Maginnity shares his knowledge of best practice when caring for your bees and harvesting their sugar bag. \nYou will learn: \n\nWhat to plant for happy bees\nHow to care for your native bees\nHow to harvest native bee honey\nHow to create cocktails using Brookie’s spirits and sugar bag\n\nTo curb your hunger\, drinks will be paired with offerings from local cheesemaker\, Deb Allard of Cheeses Loves You. \nTickets are limited\, so get in early to see what all the buzz is about.

SUMMARY:Nup To The Cup @ Harvest Newrybar
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Melbourne Cup at Harvest will celebrate the wellbeing and care of horses with like minded people in our community. \nJoin Harvest for a fabulous lunch with great food\, wine\, fashion\,\nraffles\, music and fun!\n \nNo sweeps or race this year but the same event for a great cause. We invite you to come dressed up\, wear a hat and be glamorous to\ncelebrate horses.\n \nAll profits raised go to non-profit charity\, ‘Horse Rescue Australia’. \n$95 – HARVEST SPRITZ – FOUR COURSES – LIVE MUSIC \nFor booking please call (02) 66872644 or email: info@harvestnewrybar.com.au \n“While we are not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant ( we happily cater for both ) we are a restaurant that is 100% ethical and sustainable. We are also a team of people who believe that animals being used for gambling and sport is inhumane. Our personal moral code of ethics at Harvest is treating the animals we do serve with the upmost respect – this meaning that we only serve meat products that come from local\, ethical\, sustainable and organic farmers. We are also a member of the good fish project\, one of few restaurants Australia wide with a 100% commitment to serving sustainable seafood only. We are doing our bit every way we can\, but first and foremost we are being true to our teams beliefs. We are passionate about the planet\, and believe it’s essential for us to step up where we can. We felt the Melbourne Cup as it stood no longer represented Harvest and her people – so we have collectively decided to use the day to raise money FOR horses.” \n\n– Brooke Hudson\, Co-Owner Harvest Newrybar
