SUMMARY:Dave Sparks - "Distillation" @ Lone Goat Gallery
DESCRIPTION:‘Reality is such a subjective\, intangible concept. Trying to define it is like trying to lift a handful of water. The only real absolute is point of view\, and changing this is as powerful as changing the object you’re viewing. \nThe most subtle variations of light\, design or angle can transform the bland to the magical. The distillation of a scene can also convert the average into the sublime\, by simply deleting any elements that don’t harmonise with the essence\, the feeling\, of a place. In my work\, the feeling and atmosphere has priority over the actual landscape itself\, and distilling the “essential oil” of a scene is paramount to creating an exciting visual work. \nI also try to evoke a sense of whimsical\, almost hauntingly simplified realism\, an alternate or parallel world\, suggesting a time before man’s interference with the landscape.’ \nDave Sparkes\, 2022

SUMMARY:Beach Dogs of Byron Bay @ Lone Goat Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Name: Beach Dogs of Byron Bay \nArtist: Rob Scott-Mitchell \nDates: 15 January until 26 February 2022 \nLocation: Lone Goat Gallery\, 28 Lawson St\, Byron Bay \nOpen: 10am until 4pm Wednesday to Saturdays \n  \nAbout: \nLocal artist Rob Scott-Mitchell is an award winning photographer/printmaker/musician/dog-lover\, living in Australia. \nTwo years ago he began documenting his own dogs (and all the dogs on the beach) on his daily beach walks at Belongil beach which became his ongoing series ‘Beach Dogs of Byron Bay’. \nStylistically the work has evolved into shooting largely from the dogs’ P.O.V. Scott-Mitchell loves entering their play spaces\, and responding to their energy and occasional aggression. Rob states “I find this very special in the landscape of the beach\, where the openness of the sky and ever present horizon line\, contrasts beautifully with tight shots that focus intimately on the dogs’ interactions.” \nRob’s photographic goal is to engage fully in the present\, to capture the immediacy of the action and interactions of the animals around him. His work invites you to share in the vitality and joy inherent in each canine interaction captured during his effervescent engagement with them. His almost magical interaction with each animal was profound and is evidenced in this exhibition. \nLone Goat Gallery is a creative initiative of Byron Shire Council.

SUMMARY:A Clockwork Orange 50th Anniversary Special Event
DESCRIPTION:WHEN:\nDecember 18\, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 9:45 pm\n\n\nWHERE:\nByron Theatre\n69 Jonson Street\nByron Bay NSW 2481\nAustralia\n\n\nCOST:\nAll tickets $25 | Ages 18+\n\n\nCONTACT:\n\n\n Email\n Event website \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nJoin Three Lords and Byron Theatre in celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s\n \n  \nThree Lords are especially proud to present Stanley Kubrick’s abstract & cult classic back to the big screen\, in honour of its 50th anniversary\, with an exclusive interview with Academy Award winning Camera Assistant\, Laurie Frost (UK)\nJoin us as we learn about the mind and creative process of Stanley Kubrick from Laurie’s first hand experience from collaborating on the sets of ‘A Clockwork Orange’ & ‘Barry Lyndon’. Their relationship spanned almost 30 years\, with many of Stanley’s words and mottos still echoing into Laurie’s professional life today\, as well as the undeniable impact Stanley Kubrick continues to have in the cinema and visual storytelling industry.\n  \n\nIn the future\, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment\, but it doesn’t go as planned.\n\n \n\nREVIEWS\n“It is 2020 and I’m late to the Clockwork Orange party. I found myself pulled into the film and while the opening scenes were disturbing\, I feel it is a reflection on how our society is today but in a subtle tone. We like to consider ourselves civilized and modern while pretending such monstrosities for personal hedonic gratification don’t exist.” – IMDB\n\n“If I could describe to you how I felt the first time I watched this movie\, I could not stop thinking about it. The whole day I was thinking about it\, and wanted to rewatch it so I could fully grasp  the genius of this seminal classic masterpiece. This is a seminal film\, up there with the Godfather\, 8 1/2\, the Seventh Seal\, Citizen Kane\, Solaris\, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest\,  Schindler’s List\, Life is Beautiful. It is up there it is one of the most gripping film experiences you will ever have\, it’s a brilliant piece of filmmaking created by the brilliant Stanley Kubrick. This is a must watch for any film fan. One of the most gripping\, original\, and brilliant films ever made.” – IMDB\n\n“Kubrick’s sensationally scabrous thesis on violence” – The Guardian\n\n“It demands thought\, compels the attention\, and refuses to be dismissed. And\, for that reason\, A Clockwork Orange must be considered a landmark of modern cinema.” – Reel Views\n  \n\nSee you at the Theatre!\nCinema is back!\nPlease note the film is rated R\, and this event will be 18+ only. \n  \n\nYou can now redeem your Discover NSW vouchers online: \nComplete your ticket selection\, then at the Checkout Payment\, click on Want to redeem a Dine & Discover Voucher? and enter your Discover NSW voucher code.\n(valid until 30 June 2022) \nTo book wheelchair accessible seating\, contact the Theatre Box Office:\nMondays\, Wednesdays & Fridays\, 10.30am – 1.30pm.
