DESCRIPTION:Penelope McManus has spent the past four years painting her local landscape\, wetlands\, estuaries\, creeks\, rivers and oceans of the Bundjalung Nation\, particularly around Byron Bay (Arakwal Country). \nPenelope first visited and started exploring the waterways\, wetlands and ocean around Byron Bay in 2020. Following the Black Summer bushfires she moved from the Southern Highlands of New South Wales to the Northern Rivers which brought renewed hope and vision for the beauty of the landscape – clear skies\, vivid greens\, blues and pinks. \nSongs of the Land refers to sitting\, looking\, listening and painting this country and hopes to connect audiences with the natural world through paintings that evoke feelings of mystery and wonder. \n  \nOpening Night \n\nFriday 10 November 530pm – 7.30pm \n  \nLone Goat Gallery hours are: Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.

DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed singer-songwriter\, Cruel Sea front man & wildlife ambassador Tex Perkins said he was shocked when he heard that Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital had lost a $6 million funding grant announced by the NSW Government in February. Perkins contacted the hospital’s management team offering his support & has played a central role in the ideation & creation of Wild Aid\, 2023. \nPerkins will reunite with original band members Dan Rumour\, Jim Elliott and Ken Gormly for the tour. Guitarist/keyboardist Matt Walker will take the place of the late James Cruickshank.  The five-piece band will play the exclusive benefit gig as a warmup to their recently announced national  “The Honeymoon is Over” tour. This will be the first show in 10 years for the five-time ARIA award-winning Australian rock band\, The Cruel Sea. \nThe event includes\, as well as Cruel Sea\, a line-up of amazing Australian musicians\, aims to raise awareness and funds for Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital’s life-saving veterinary treatment\, and care for sick injured and orphaned wildlife.  Along with the spectacular concert\, the evening will also feature a live auction of incredible donated items from sponsors and ambassadors of The Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital and in addition\, there will be a silent auction available during the event and some other unmissable experiences. \nProceeds from WILD AID 2023 will go directly to providing veterinary treatment and care for sick and injured wildlife admitted to Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.​ \nSaturday 21 October at the Green Room\,  Byron Events Farm. SUMMARY:Moonlight Cinema | Byron Wildlife Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:A special one-off Moonlight Cinema Event at The Sanctuary with feature film\, Fern Gully The Last Rainforest and wildlife documentary Outback Wildlife.\nThis very special event will take place in the evening of Saturday 16 September at Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.\nGates open at 4:30pm so come early\, grab some food\, a drink\, relax or explore the Sanctuary. \nAt 5:30pm there will be a screening of Outback Wildlife: Deserts and Grasslands produced by Into The Wild Films. This is a brilliant short documentary about Australia as the driest inhabited content on earth and explores Australia’s deserts and arid landscapes to discover some of the plants and wildlife that inhabit Australia’s Outback- many of which you’ll find at Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. \nAt 6:30pm the feature presentation of children’s film\, Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest will begin. Three sell-out shows\, lengthy waiting lists and standing ovations – it was a Fringe hit. DESCRIPTION:SeedArts presents The Xrossing a spectacular highwire tribute to Con Colleano\, a Gamilaroi man born in Lismore in 1899 who became the greatest tightwire artist of all time. Known as the ‘Wizard of the Wire’ his grace\, style and achievements have never been paralleled and his story is little-known. \nThe performance is co-directed by Kirk Page and Simone O’Brien and features 5 celebrated tightwire walkers\, including Wiradjuri wire walker and circus artist Dylan Singh\, in performances on highwires stretching 60 metres across Lismore Quad\, a public open-air space in the heart of Lismore. The Xrossing also includes performances by ‘community walkers’ on lower wires who will have taken part in a series of free ‘Wizards of the Wire’ tightwire workshops in the lead up to the show. \nThe Xrossing premieres during NAIDOC week with free daytime performances\, 1pm – 6pm on Sat 8  and Sun 9 July at Lismore Quad.
