SUMMARY:Soul Street New Years Eve - Byron Bay
DESCRIPTION:Soul Street is Byron Bay’s New Year’s event right in the heart of town! \nSoul Street started on 31st December 2013. Last year\, around 10\,000 visitors mingled with musicians\, artisans and food stalls to create a chilled out vibe to bring in the 2017 year. This popular street party is a great opportunity for the Byron Bay community and visitors to come together to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to showcase the creativity\, lifestyle\, and talent that we have in this region. \nThe centre of town is filled with market stalls\, food vendors\, face painter’s\, four stages\, numerous bands\, buskers\, circus performers\, fire twirlers\, drummers\, and children’s activities. All the market stalls run down the centre of Jonson Street from Byron Community Centre to Lawson Lane and throughout Railway Park. Jonson Street is closed\, along with Railway Park. \nFor this event\, the Byron Community Centre partners with Byron Shire Council to promote a ‘Safe Summer in the Bay’. Soul Street New Year’s Eve in Byron Bay is a fun\, safe\, community-driven\, alcohol-free event!

We are also a member of the good fish project\, one of few restaurants Australia wide with a 100% commitment to serving sustainable seafood only. We are doing our bit every way we can\, but first and foremost we are being true to our teams beliefs. We are passionate about the planet\, and believe it’s essential for us to step up where we can. SUMMARY:2019 Byron Bay Lighthouse Run
DESCRIPTION:Byron Bay Lighthouse Run is organised by Lisa Parkes\, with the assistance of the Lighthouse Run committee\, an amazing group of volunteers and sponsors. Now in its 13th year\, the run has grown from humble beginnings. \nThe organisers take no money from the event at all – all money raised goes to charity. Each year we select different charities. We consider that some charities get huge support so\, we try to go for the underdog and smaller ventures. We also like to keep in touch with projects to see where our money has gone. Our team of committee members\, volunteers and sponsors work hard to organise the event. The participants who run or walk pay for the event\, so we like to take notice of what happens to the money. \nIn 2019 we are supporting headspace Lismore and the Women’s Resource Service at the Mullumbimby and Districts Neighbourhood Centre.

SUMMARY:Brunswick Picture House presents Arrebato Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Arrebato Ensemble is contemporary flamenco with edge. Led by acclaimed flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti and Damian de Boos-Smith (cello and guitar)\, the long-time collaborators are joined by Byron Mark (cajón\, percussion and piano) and dancer Chachy Peñalver\, founder and director of The Sydney Flamenco Studio. This new lineup creates passionately moving performances combining incisive ensemble playing\, masterful solos and the beauty and power of flamenco dance. \nThe group’s much-anticipated third album “Sofia’s Dream” was released in October 2018. The group’s previous albums drew critical acclaim with John Shand describing that while their music “moves from pure flamenco in favour of a more contemporary style\, the spirit\, a dramatic\, sexually charged and haughty sadness\, remains intact” (SMH). The group’s first album snared them the Best World Music Artist at the MusicOz Awards\, and performances at WOMADelaide\, Sydney Festival\, Apollo Bay Music Festival\, Sydney Opera House and International Australian Festival of Chamber Music\, followed. The second CD “Absolución” was launched at the Sydney Opera House in 2011 to a sell out audience and also enjoyed rave reviews. \nGreg Alfonzetti: nylon guitar\nDamian de Boos-Smith: cello\, nylon guitar\, fretless bass\nByron Mark: percussion\, piano\nChachy Peñalver: dancer \nAdult $30 | Concession $25
