SUMMARY:Heritage House Bangalow Easter Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Heritage House Bangalow Easter Art Exhibition \nBangalow Heritage House has daringly intermingled contemporary paintings of local relevance with its history collection. The costumes and tools of Bangalow’s settlers are displayed mixed together with paintings of the environment\, fruit and vegetables\, flowers and even cakes. \nThe artworks are by two well-known local artists Karena Wynn-Moylan and Simon Harriot. Both artists are presenting works that are of Bangalow – Simon Harriot will be displaying colour field landscapes while Karena Wynn-Moylan shows a collection of small to medium sized works inspired by Bangalow’s produce and scenes. \nThis colourful exhibition will be open Tuesday to Sunday until May 4th. 10am-4pm with a percentage of the profits going towards the Museum. \nSimon Harriot uses colour and abstract expressionism to document the landscape of the \nnorthern rivers. The common thread that connects all his paintings is a strong and intense colour \npalette used to analyse and gain an alternative appreciation of the natural beauty of the landscape. \nHis work is connected through colour using harmonious or discordant palettes into layers or blocks of colour and transposes the elements of the environment onto canvas\, with vitality and rhythm. \n  \nKarena Wynn-Moylan is an award winning artist whose career has spanned a range of media and a \nwide variety of subjects. Each week she produces and presents the popular Arts Canvass show on \nBay FM 99.9 and is also a noted composer and songwriter. Equally adept at watercolour\, oils or \nacrylics her beautiful draughtsmanship shines through all her subjects. She is currently preparing \nher 14th solo show for the future\, but in the meantime has been busy on a range of side projects to \ndo with food\, flowers and Farmer’s Markets which can be seen at this exhibition. \n  \nThis colourful show will open at 4pm on Saturday April 4 th at the Heritage Museum and will run for 4 weeks. Naturally there will be lots of lovely food and drinks available at the opening ! \nThe exhibition will be open Tuesday to Sunday \, 10am-4pm with a percentage of the profits going \ntowards the Museum.

SUMMARY:The Water of Life - Exclusive Whisky Film Screening @ Cape Byron Distillery
DESCRIPTION:The Water of Life Exclusive Whisky Film Screening\nThursday 1st April :: Exclusive Screening of The Water of Life and Q&A with the filmmakers and the people who created the beautiful spirit. \nWe’re excited to announce the launch of The Water of Life – A Whisky Film with a live screening at the distillery and a virtual online viewing available to audiences globally! Attendees will enjoy an exclusive sampling of our new single malt whisky\, followed by a live Q&A with master distiller and Co-Founder Jim McEwan\, Eddie Brook and film director Greg Swartz. \nThe Water of Life is a feature documentary that focuses on the craftsmen\, chemists\, and renegades at the heart of the whisky revolution that turned the stagnant scotch whisky industry of the 1980s into the titan it is today. The film follows Jim McEwan\, the world’s most awarded Scotch whisky distiller\, during his time in Australia at the distillery\, where he played a pivotal role in the birth of our new spirit – the soon-to-be-released single malt whisky! \nStarting behind the locked gates of an abandoned distillery\, Jim McEwan and Mark Reynier — “the most unlikely partnership in the history of whisky” — share their personal experiences of the risk-taking and wild experimentation they used to turn Bruichladdich into a creative and financial powerhouse. \nThe film also takes you on the journeys of visionaries like Gordon & MacPhail\, Billy Walker\, Rachel Barrie and David Stewart\, whose mixture of talent\, chemistry\, hard work\, grit\, and a little sprinkle of magic paved the way for the next generation of innovators like Adam Hannett\, Kelsey McKechnie\, Liam Hughes\, Iain Croucher\, and Eddie Brook. \nThe Water of Life is a uniquely personal perspective on the evolution of whisky by those who lived it – the story of those who played a key part in rediscovering the crafting of the ancient spirit. \nThe Australian Premiere held at the distillery will be showing on the 1st of April 2021 and will offer whisky fans a unique film screening and tasting experience. \nThe simultaneous virtual online viewing will also include the movie screening and an exclusive tasting kit of our single malt sample. Fans can also choose to access the viewing without the whisky tasting kit. \nThe tasting kit will include 25ml samples of: \n\nCape Byron Distillery New Make Spirit\nCape Byron Distillery Single Malt Whisky\nBarrel-aged Mac. Liqueur\n\nOur biggest challenge\, as with any food or drink film\, is you can’t taste the screen. When putting this event together it was important that we found a way to bring not just the story to the screen\, but to engage the audience in a way whisky does. When you take that first sip your senses are bombarded not only with the smell and taste\, but it taps into your memories\, feelings\, and emotions if you let it. Our special hybrid event will bring all the senses together through watching the movie\, pairing that with the tasting kits\, and offering the opportunity to join the stars to hear them talk more about their passions. ~ Greg Swartz\, Director \nWe’re so excited to share this film with Australian whisky fans and to showcase our new single malt that is soon to be released this year. The film captures that moment when Jim was at the distillery when we first started this whisky journey and now\, we get to share the spirit with the whisky community. ~ Eddie Brook\, Co-Founder & Distiller \nTrailer: https://youtu.be/7SQCjuO6rwo \nMovie Website: www.wateroflifefilm.com \nTickets: Limited tickets available ~ book yours now on Eventbrite \nThursday 1st April\, screening starts at 6pm AEST \n\nCape Byron Distillery in-person event – $85\nVirtual attendance + whisky tasting kit – $55\nVirtual attendance only – $35

SUMMARY:Bruns Picture House presents DUSTYESKY
DESCRIPTION:Our very own DUSTYESKY returns to the Picture House for two exclusive shows! As featured on ABC TV’s Australian Story (twice!)\, join the choir dubbed the ‘Most Handsome Russian Male Choir to be seen in the Southern Hemisphere’ — DUSTYESKY when they return to the BRUNSWICK PICTURE HOUSE in warm up ahead of some very special shows at The Melbourne Comedy Festival & the Sydney Opera House later this year… \nWhen 28 bearded blokes from the Northern Rivers coastal community of Mullumbimby came together to share beers and sing Russian songs\, something extraordinary — and frankly bizarre — happened\, and Dustyesky was born. None of them have a connection to Russia or even speak the language\, yet Dustyesky has gained global notoriety\, and stardom in the motherland\, for their spirited renditions of Red Army and traditional Russian folk songs. Performing in four-part harmonies with gusto and élan\, Dustyesky has amazed crowds at Woodford Folk Festival\, Mullum Music Festival\, Falls Festival\, Melbourne Fringe and most recently WOMADelaide – becoming instant festival icons with their extraordinarily powerful voices\, potent masculinity and rustic charm. \nThe secret of Dustyesky is lost in the misty undergrowth of the famous Mullumgrad hinterland. Like the recipe for gherkin liqueur\, the magic of our music lies in the heart of all of us\, but never one man alone. As rough as a sawmiller’s beard yet as gentle as his touch\, Dustyesky is elusive yet eternal. Like the wind of the Siberian steppes\, we shall blow within you forever. Your heart will soar. You will smile and cry for sure. \n“The North Coast’s favourite Russian men’s choir.” — The Byron Shire News “Overwhelming sheer magnetism… lusty masculinity. Cult act? Definitely… Must-see? Indubitably.” — The Guardian\n“As rough as a sawmiller’s beard as gentle as his touch\, Dustyesky is elusive yet eternal.” — Anton Chekov
