SUMMARY:BYRON UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL 2021
DESCRIPTION:The Byron Underground Film Festival is one of Australia’s newest film festivals\, focusing on innovative\, experimental\, independent and ground-breaking cinema from around the world. \nAs one of the only regions of the country which has remained relatively Covid-19 free over the last year\, we are looking forward to celebrating the cinema experience without the risks associated with holding in-person events in major cities. \n \nByron Bay and the nearby Gold Coast has recently become the centre of much activity in the Australian film industry. The festival has tapped into this growth through our celebration of new independent cinema culture. As a popular travel destination\, we plan to position our festival as an attractive option for the festival circuit which filmmakers\, critics\, distributors and audiences can visit without the risks of covid.

SUMMARY:The Little Mermaid presented by Victorian State Ballet & Byron Theatre
DESCRIPTION:WHEN:\nApril 23\, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm\n\n\nWHERE:\nByron Theatre\n69 Jonson Street\nByron Bay NSW 2481\nAustralia\n\n\nCOST:\nAdult $40 | Concession $35 | Child U16 $28 | Family x 4 (2 Adults + 2 Children) $120\n\n\nCONTACT:\n\n\n Event website \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n \nWe are very proud to present this wonderfully enchanting Classical Ballet treat to our audiences! \n3 Performances:\nFriday 23rd April at 7:00pm & Saturday 24th April at 2:00pm & 6:30pm \nThe Little Mermaid is a new work in the Victorian State Ballet (VSB) repertoire. \nThe ballet follows the narrative based predominately on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. This widely known and much-loved story represented an opportunity to bring to life an underwater world in-habited by myriad sea folk and lively characters. \nThe choreography by Michelle Cassar de Sierra is a stunning display of classical ballet with elements of physical theatre that magically tell the tale. \n \nThe story unfolds in another world where a young mermaid dreams of a life beyond the sea. She bears witness to a shipwreck and comes to aid of a drowning sailor. Having saved his life and having delivered him back to shore\, her curiosity is awakened\, and throwing caution to the wind\, she seeks the council of the wise sea crone who advises her that all gifts come with a warning and grants her the gift of transformation. Re-united with her sailor\, she struggles to conform with human ways and quickly discovers life in a palace\, chasing a prince\, and navigating her new legs is not as easy as she dreamed! \n \nCome and see the magnificent costumes full of vibrant colour\, sets and props accentuating the beauty and splendour of this magical place\, together with the outstanding skill\, artistry & technique of the artists of the Victorian State Ballet. \n \nVSB’s production of The Little Mermaid endeavours to immerse the audience right in amidst the fairy tale classic in a profound experience that is exhilarating\, impacting and visually inspiring. \n \nFeaturing internationally recognised artists in leading roles in a rich display of outstanding skill! One of the world’s favourite fairy tale classics is retold through a superb production featuring classical ballet skill and choreography which honour the spirit of this magical work – a memorable experience for the whole family! \n  \n \n  \nTo book wheelchair accessible seating\, please contact the Theatre Box Office:\nMonday/Wednesday/Friday\, 10.30am – 1.30pm.
