DESCRIPTION:If you would like to know more about our gorgeous native Koala then make sure you book a tour at the Friends of the Koala centre in Lismore.  Experienced volunteers and staff give informative and interesting talks covering many aspects of koalas. \nAs well as answering questions you might have\, you also get a peek at koalas they have in permanent care at the time and might be lucky enough to sight one or two in the wild in koala food trees around the Centre. \nSimply a great thing to do for all ages. \nWhen: Tours run every Monday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, except for public holidays \nTime: 2pm – tours run for 45mins \nCost: $0\, however donations are greatly appreciated \nBookings are essential please call (02) 6621 4664.  We take a maximum of 6 people each day. \nTo find out further about the work Friends of the Koala do\, visit their website.

SUMMARY:Gail Hocking:  A Tremble\, A Tug\, A Telling
DESCRIPTION:Pop into our local gallery to view Gail Hocking’s latest work based on her experiences during a recent lived climatic catastrophe in which the audible sound of the Earths P wave caused intense fear\, panic and vulnerability. \nThis experience led to the creation of her new body of work A Tremble\, A Tug\, A Telling – an immersive installation of moving image and sound that explores the complex entwinement between our bodies and nonhuman phenomena. Drawing on the weight of this embodied experience\, the work explores the struggle to understand changing landscapes and the personal experience of climate trauma and its impact on the psyche. \nGail Hocking is a New Zealand born artist with a strong connection to the land and natural environments. She has exhibited widely since 2009 and was the winner of the 2024 Heysen Prize for Landscape and 2022 Breaking Ground Award in South Australia. \nLone Goat Gallery is open Wednesdays – Saturdays

DESCRIPTION:Experience a magical evening of sacred music\, fairy-lit gardens\, and ancient Tibetan rituals – all for a powerful cause. \nFor a rare night-time experience set within the geodesic Peace Dome at Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens in the Byron Bay hinterland go along to hear the Gyuto Monks of Tibet performing their Chants of Compassion Sacred Music Concert. \nVisitors will be immersed in centuries-old practices of peace\, love\, and mindfulness\, led by the Gyuto Monks’ extraordinary overtone chanting – a harmonic tradition preserved for over 600 years. \nThe evening begins with a warm cup of chai and a visit to the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa\, before enjoying a sunset dinner overlooking the Crystal Guardians and Byron’s hinterland. The experience culminates inside the Peace Dome\, where the monks’ chants can bring deep meditative states.
