DESCRIPTION:When the rain comes and the surf is blown out there is nothing better than being in the quiet and dry surrounds of a cinema. The international festivals presented by Palace are a highlight of the cinematic offerings in Byron throughout the year. \nNext month Palace is presenting the beautiful HSBC German Film Festival in collaboration with German Films.  The 2024 line-up features many superb offerings including six films direct from the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale)\, a selection of the best new German cinema and two exciting retrospective strands – a spotlight on Werner Herzog and a celebration of 70 years of German Films. \nNot to be missed for any budding cinephile\, the festival will also host Kino for Kids which is a selection of new German language films for children and teens\, presented by the Goethe-Institut. Please note that school bookings are available! \n See full program here. \nOPENING NIGHT\nFrom Hilde With Love (In Liebe\, Eure Hilde) is the opening night film. Directed by renowned filmmaker Andreas Dresen\, the film premiered to widespread acclaim at the recent Berlinale and features an extraordinary performance from Liv Lisa Fries as a young woman drawn into the anti-Nazi resistance movement during World War II.  This film is a compelling historical drama and a remarkable true story.

The 10th instalment of Festival of the Stone will see Byron locals and visitors gather to take in a major lineup of music\, tantalising tastes and witness the annual unveiling of the 2024 batch of Stone Beer\, while also raising much needed funds for local homeless hub\, Fletcher Street Cottage. Wins all round! \nFestival of the Stone began as a celebration of Stone & Wood’s annual release of Stone Beer and the first tapping of the keg. The 2024 Stone Beer brew is a wood-fired porter ideal for chilly winter nights. A nod to medieval brewing\, it’s a tradition held dear since Stone & Wood’s humble beginnings\, seventeen years ago.  Now\, every May since Stone & Wood began\, alongside others in the brewing industry\, Stone & Wood brews its woodfired porter Stone Beer in preparation for winter. This is called Stone Brew Day. \nGet ready to spend Saturday 1 June with… Dan Sultan\, Beddy Rays\, The Beefs\, Verge Collection Aka Lei and Mid Drift. \nBringing the ankle biters along? We have that covered with Malt Disney Art & Craft Zone.
