SUMMARY:ECO WALK BYRON BAY with PLASTIC FREE BOY
DESCRIPTION:ECO TOUR: CALL TO ACTION FOR 2021 WITH PLASTIC FREE BOY\n\nPlastic Free Boy invites families and visitors on an exciting and informative eco-tour through the forest up the lighthouse and back through the iconic beaches of Byron Bay.\nYou will appreciate this environment through the eyes of a local 14-year-old kid\, who grew up swimming with the local turtles and dolphins since he was born. \n ” I am excited to share with you important information about the environment that makes Byron Bay the iconic place it is.\nWhy? Because I feel it is time to give back to Nature\, the way it cares for us. And my part is to share knowledge of what precious gifts we are receiving by just being here. What the trees are and what they do for us.  What the ocean holds and what it does for us. If we understand more about how much we need a thriving environment around us\, then I believe that people will join me in giving back\, restoring\, and caretaking. Hey\, and it is fun!! I will also talk about the history of Byron Bay including highlights about the lighthouse.   In addition\, you will get some invite to my local clean-ups and maybe join me on a snorkel to the local reef.” \nBy way of an introduction for the people new to the Shire or who do not know me. I am 14 years old\, born in Byron Bay\, have been making films with my mum\, a professional filmmaker to educate people about the problems of and solutions to plastic pollution. It all started on my 11th birthday on the main beach as I witnessed the release of 3 rehabilitated sea turtles back into the ocean. I found out about plastic kills millions of marine animals and with the help of my mum Karin\, we embarked on a journey to help save the ocean from plastic pollution. For the past 4 years\, I have been showing my film ‘Plastic Alarm’ to over 800 000 students in schools all over Australia. I have spoken at different events such as the 2019 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum. I became Clean Up Australia Day Youth Ambassador as well as the World Clean Up Day Ambassador and was nominated for the Department of Environment Green Globe Award and a Department of Education Student Award. Last year my mum and I started a new film called ‘Plan B’ which offers solutions for how to save the Coral Reefs including the Great Barrier Reef. \n\n\nCheck out the available dates and book here!

Our vision was to create a premium\, paddock to bottle agricole rum with a unique Australian expression. Our journey is now in it’s eighth year. We’ve had to develop new skills and adapt new methods of small-scale cultivation\, harvesting and crushing not used in the area before. We’ve designed our distillery based on fermentation\, distillation and maturation methods not typically used in commercial rum distilleries and the result is a rum that we are proud to say has the unique characteristics of our part of the world – our provenance. See more here!

SUMMARY:Bangalow Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:BANGALOW FILM FESTIVAL NOW ON SALE \nThe full 2021 Bangalow Film Festival program of classics\, new features\, documentaries\, family films\, live music\, and more\, is now on sale. \nFilm lovers will meet at the Showgrounds\, and the A&I Hall\, from January 14\, as the village lights up for eight exciting days of films and events. \nOpening with the not-to-be-missed drive-in screening of Fellini’s 1960 masterpiece\, La Dolce Vita\, the program is jam-packed with films for everyone: \nHigh Ground\, starring Jack Thompson\, Simon Baker and Jacob Junior Nayinggul is a Northern Rivers’ premier. Shot in Kakudu National Park by Andrew Commis (Babyteeth) and directed by Stephen \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaxwell Johnson (Yolngu Boy)\, this is a great opportunity to preview the film before it hits our local screens. \nFood and dog lovers will be delighted by a screening of The Truffle Hunters\, a heart-warming documentary that was a hit at the Cannes film festival. It follows a group of fascinating characters and their beloved dogs as they roam the Italian countryside in search of the elusive and lucrative truffle. It’s an outdoor screening where you will be able to sit under the stars with your well- behaved pooch\, while you both dream of far-away places and delicious cuisine. \nAlso in the food strand of the festival is the fascinating new documentary Ottolenghi & The Cakes of Versailles. Via London\, Versailles\, and Instagram\, the film follows famous chef Yotam Ottolenghi on his quest to bring the sumptuous art and decadence of Versailles to life in cake form at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He assembles a team – a veritable who’s who of the dessert world\, including Dominique Ansel and Dinara Kasko – to help bring his vision to life. There’s history in every slice! \nThe Bangalow Film Festival 2021 closes with a very special screening of the spaghetti western\, A Fistful of Dollars. The film was originally scored by the maestro of film composition\, Ennio Morricone\, who passed away last July. At this closing event\, the film will be accompanied by a new score composed and played live by the celebrated composer and DJ Chiara Costanza. \nChiara Costanza is a Melbourne-based music composer\, producer and DJ born and raised in Torino\, Italy. Classically trained in piano and later exposed to electronic music after moving to Melbourne in 2004\, Chiara has since moved into a well-respected position in the Australian electronic music scene\, where she performs under the moniker Chiara Kickdrum. Her score for A Fistful of Dollars pays a heartfelt tribute to Morricone’s music. She will be accompanied by a number of local musicians playing on stage alongside her. \nByron Mayor\, Simon Richardson\, says: “I’m looking forward to seeing both locals and visitors safely enjoying this exciting new film festival in Bangalow\, after a challenging year that saw so many events cancelled in the community. Congratulations to the organisers for a great addition to our creative calendar.” \nFull program and ticket sales available from December 14 at: www.bangalowfilmfestival.com.au
