Spring School Holiday Activities

Spring has arrived at The Macadamia Castle and we are looking forward to the warmer weather. We have a packed schedule of experiences and activities for visitors with our school holiday program and so many free activities throughout the day. We also have intensive full day supervised programs for junior animal lovers.

Café Macca will be open from 8am – 4pm daily serving big breakfasts, freshly made sushi, legendary pancakes, burgers, avocado toast, plenty of kids options and a Chefs daily special. Check out our school holiday program below.

Ecosystem Exploration

Explore some of the smaller residents of the Macadamia Castle and channel your inner artist. Create a drawing or two, whilst learning some cool facts about our animals and the habitats they call home.

Ages: Open to kids 3-12 years
Time: 11am – 12pm
Dates: Friday 28th Sept, Monday 1 Oct, Friday 5th Oct, Monday 8th Oct, Thursday 11th Oct.
Price: Free with park entry
Note: Parental supervision required

Wildlife Guardians
Become a Wildlife Guardian, learn about conservation and caring for our native wildlife. Design an enclosure for one of our baby animals. Handle Lizards, snakes and crocodiles! Create enrichment objects and activities for our animals to enjoy.

Limit: 8 per workshop
Time: 9 am to 3.30 pm (register 8.30 am)
Ages: 7-11 years
Dates available: Wed 26th Sept, Wed 3rd Oct and Tues 9th Oct.
Price: $75 includes lunch, afternoon tea, bottle of water and a Certificate of Participation.
Note: This is a fully-supervised day course.

Keeper For a Day

These school holidays teenagers can spend a day behind the scenes with one of our senior keepers during these school holidays to discover what working in a captive animal facility is all about. They will learn about the conservation of our local wildlife, animal husbandry practices and work at creating and providing enrichment for our animals and much more….

Time: 9 am to 3.30 pm (register 8.30 am)
Ages: 12 and over

Farmyard Animal Nursery

We are welcoming the arrival of a number of cute and cuddly baby animals! While our keepers are busy making sure they are all doing well and settling in we have had fun naming them.

We have Kendrick our new black lamb, Kendrick injured his leg and was rejected by his mother but is now healed and being cared for by Keeper Josh, he is joined by Flick and Atta our new kid goats and Byron and Bambi two month old jersey calves. Come to Farmyard Animal Feeding, 11.15am and 2.15pm every day to meet the new arrivals, free after park entry.

Nocturnal Theatre
Welcome to a world of darkness where you can meet and learn about our animals who wanted the world at night.

Our nocturnal animals are ready to meet you in the Night Creepers Nocturnal Theatre! Learn about our tawny frogmouth, short-eared possum, rufus bettong, woma python and sugar glider then get up close with a free photo and digital download! Held at 2pm every day of the holidays and is free after park entry.

Facepainting
Facepainting will be held every day of the school holidays from 11am until 2pm, 30th September until 14th October and is free after park entry. Located near the train ride.

The Macadamia Castle has been the area’s favourite entertainment and education destination for over 40 years. The animal park features over 250 animals including native birds, animals and reptiles. There are petting nurseries, barbeques and picnic area, mini golf, playground, a train ride and an adventure tree house with keeper talks hourly. Their quality cafe serves delicious snacks and meals. Local barista made coffee is a speciality and their pancakes are famous.

Open 8am to 5pm daily.
