Spend a day behind the scenes in the animal park… we get kids and teenagers out of cyberspace and connected with each other, local native wildlife and the great outdoors! We also have a brand new program for children with a disability.

“My son said it was really fantastic! Even better than he had hoped. He did the Australia Zoo keeper program a while ago and said that he enjoyed this one much more. He thought your program was more interesting and a lot more interactive than the Australia Zoo program.

He said he really liked the educator Erin and that all the other staff were lovely. The guinea pigs were his favourite. Cleaning the kangaroo enclosure was his least favourite but still good fun. He has always wanted to work with animals but now even more so. I know what he will be doing every school holidays from now on.”

Wildlife Guardians
Spend the day with our Keepers and Education Officer to become a Wildlife Guardian. Gain an in-depth understanding of conservation and caring for native wildlife. Participants will design an enclosure for one of our baby animals, learn about ecosystems, handle and care for lizards, snakes, koalas, birds and even crocodiles and create natural enrichment objects for our animals to enjoy and much more.

Creature Keeper
(for NDIS planholders and children with a disability)
We know that for children with a disability, interacting with animals can provide countless benefits towards general well-being, developing a sense of responsibility, social inclusion and increased functionality.

This program offers a safe experience in small groups designed to build a participant’s independence, confidence, skills and knowledge of wildlife. Participants spend a day with our Head Keepers, learning about animals and how we care for them.

The sights, sounds, smells and immersive environment of the Animal Park allows for self-paced discovery of living things. Participants are encouraged to connect with animals and nature to develop confidence, engagement and communication.

Activities include –
Creating and providing enrichment object for a range of animals
Feeding (aviary hand feed, treats to goats, alpacas, calves with milk, koala top up browse)
Handling (walking animals, time in the sun for reptiles)
Grooming (brushing and washing Farmyard animals)
Helping cleaning enclosures or providing bedding to animals

Limit: 4 per workshop – the ratio is 4 participants to a Keeper. If you feel the participant requires additional care we welcome you to bring along their carer for free park admission. Please note this at time of booking.
$150 per workshop
