Surviving Byron Bay Schoolies Week – Hints and Tips

We at the Byron Bay Visitor Centre have been dealing with Schoolies week since it began in Byron Bay and here are some hints and tips that we have developed over the years.

  • Airport shuttles – If you haven't booked your bus back to the airport come early in the week into the Visitor Centre and we will organise your ride.
  • Bring charger – Don't leave home without your mobile charger. Remember if you want to receive a text on Friday your phone will need a charge before then.
  • Taxis – Program the local taxi number into your mobile before you leave. The number is (02) 6685 5008, and Byron Bay taxis can take normal and maxi taxi bookings.
  • Bring your closed shoes -  You will need your closed shoes if you are going to take part in any of Byron Bay's adventure activities.
  • Bring the address – Before you leave home make sure you know the address of your schoolies accommodation, and also arrange where you are to pick up your accommodations keys.
  • Schoolies Safety Hub – The Schoolies Safety Hub will be staffed 24 hours on the main beach front next to the Byron Bay Surf Club and the volunteers there can offer Schoolies help.
  • Byron Visitor Centre – For activity and bus bookings and general enquiries our location is behind the main bus stop on Jonson Street.  For help after 5pm please go the The HUB, next to the Surf Club by the beach.  The Volunteers and Red Frogs are there to help with first aid, lost property etc. and you can get drinking water and other refreshments.

Please remember to respect our town and its residents:

We want you to have a wicked time in Byron Bay, but not at the expense of the residents.  Please take careful note of your accommodation's noise and behaviour policy, and remember that you may be evicted if you ignore the rules.  Byron Bay's public parks and beaches are alcohol-free, so don't risk a hefty fine by drinking in public places.  Put all your rubbish in bins - and have a great time!
