IT’S A BIG 80’S DOUBLE AT THE BRUNSWICK PICTURE HOUSE THIS WEEKEND!
First up …. Footloose Film Event … Fri 20th Sep @ 7pm
By popular demand, we are thrilled (really, we are!) to announce our next infamous Film Event: the 80’s classic FOOTLOOSE which made a superstar of its lead actor, Kevin Bacon.
A city teenager moves to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned, and his rebellious spirit shakes up the populace.
It tells the story of Ren McCormack (Bacon), a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small western town with his family. Unfortunately, rock music and dancing have been banned, and the film tracks Ren’s rebellious in shaking up the populace by attempting to overturn the ban, which resulted from the efforts of a local minister (John Lithgow).
The film is loosely based on actual events that took place in the small, rural, and religious community of Elmore City, Oklahoma.
Although receiving mixed reviews upon its release, the film was a box office hit and has endured to this day, thanks to its classic hit soundtrack tunes (“Footloose,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”) and its famous dance sequences.
In true Brunswick Picture House fashion, this footloose and fancy-free film event will feature more than just the screening, with live performances and other surprises!
And in celebrating the 80’s this weekend, don’t miss Saturday night’s Brunswick Picture House Prom Night — dress up and relive your very own high school formal at our Prom Night, an 80’s dance party extravaganza like no other!

As always, we’ll be putting our own Picture House touch on the Prom Night and revisiting our favourite era of all time with live performances, games, video clips, a very special guest MC and more 80’s tracks than you can shake your body at as we head Back to the Futu… er, the 80’s!
