Come and try microlight flying, one of the greatest 'Soft Adventure' experiences you will ever have. Microlight flying, is the fastest growing recreational sport in the world. It is also very safe, hugely exciting and incredibly spectacular.
A Trial Introductory Flight gives you, the passenger, the chance to experience open cockpit flying and fantastic views from above.
This is an adventure that anyone can enjoy! It also offers an opportunity to take pictures of the landscape you would never see walking on the ground.
The trial flight includes comprehensive pre-flight briefing, donning helmet and communications equipment, as well as a description of the aircraft and how to board it. We will then give you a basic explanation of procedures and controls. During the flight, if you wish, you may take control of the aircraft if the weather conditions are suitable.
Whilst in the air, you will be overcome by the beauty of the 'rainbow region' stretching from Byron Bay and majestic shore headlands to Mt Warning and its massive volcanic rim and further to the Great Dividing Range.

We also offer the Trial Introductory Flights with extras: whale watching, aerial photography instruction, cross country flying, tailor made flights.
All passengers will need to be 15 years and over. Those under 18 years old will require the permission of parent/guardian. Maximum weight is 110 kg.

Special Events
4-7 October - the annual Byron Bay Microlights and AirBorne Tyagarah Fly-in.
The Fly-in has been arranged to promote recreational flying for local communities and wide spectrum of Byron Bay visitors. It is expected to have a number of microlight pilots flying in from as far as Sydney and other ultralight aircrafts from the local areas of Lismore, Casino, Murwillumbah, Caboolture etc
It is a great opportunity for pilots to see the latest technology from Airborne and to talk to their experts. The general public will also benefit from seeing the latest, modern weightshift aircrafts, talking to pilots and developing better knowledge of different flying experiences.
The range of Trial Introductory Flights by qualified visiting instructors is available from Tyagarah and Lismore aerodromes.

Cancellation Policy / Terms & Conditions
A flight confirmation or a gift voucher entitles you to participate in a flight with Byron Bay Microlights. A gift voucher remains valid for 12 months from the date of issue and is not refundable. The booking or voucher is transferable to another person at no extra cost. Please confirm transfer details with the office.
The confirmed flight booking might be altered not later than 2 days prior to the flight date or the ticket is forfeited and neither the refund nor rebooking will be made. Any changes to booking before 2 days of the confirmed flight booking date will incur a booking fee of $50.00 per person.
Flying is completely dependant upon the weather condition. For your safety it may be necessary to postpone or cancel a flight at any time if in our opinion the conditions are not suitable. Please call 0407 281 687 a few hours before your flight to confirm weather condition and your flight.
If your flight is cancelled due to inclement weather conditions you are welcome to rebook at no extra cost. We do ask that you contact us within 90 days to arrange another flight.
If you do not arrive in time for the flight and you miss it or are a ‘no show’ the booking is forfeited and no rebooking or refund will be made.
Children under 15 years old are not eligible to fly and those under 18 years old will require the permission of a parent/guardian. We ask all passengers to sign the Assumption of Risk and Liability Release Form and Hang Gliding Short term Membership Form prior to the flight.
Please inform the office staff of any current ongoing or old medical condition that could prevent you from flying at the time of booking a flight.
